The highlight of my recent holiday to the City of Love last month was Western Visaya’s high-profile fashion show “Marry Me at The Marriott” at The Courtyard by Marriott Iloilo which featured the collection of world-renowned Filipino designers such as Jun Escario, Michael Leyva, Francis Libiran and Aisha Penelosa.
I have seen the masterpieces of Jun Escario, Michael Leyva and Francis Libiran on runways, magazines and tv shows, but sadly it’s my first time to come across Aisha’s works. Representing Iloilo and Western Visayas at The Marry Me at The Marriott was Ms. Penelosa who delivered a standout set with her modern spin of the traditional Filipiniana with the use of silk, pinya cloth, embroidered lace, tule and mesh with gold and silver details and accents. Her segment which featured a 5-piece collection was opened with this blanch almond dress embellished with embroidered appliques that run from the center of the chest with a heavy wrap detail on the waist and drops to a fade minimal down to the center front, back and the sides of the ballgown, and a white soft tule veil to top the ensemble. The entire look is very feminine and exudes a classic sophistication that pretty much complement an elegant Filipina bride.
Aisha’s collection were in hues of antique white/blanch almond with accents of gold and silver beads and crystals.
Aisha with equally world-renowned fellow designers Jun, Michael and Francis are known for their craft, attention to detail and keen eye for beauty made the “Marry Me at the Marriott” a great success and a night to remember for Western Visayas.
The Marry Me at the Marriott Bridal Fashion Show did not just show off the country’s talented designers but also how magnificent The Courtyard by Marriott Iloilo event halls are. The 3,000 square feet event space with glorious 14-feet high ceiling was transformed into a dreamy wedding venue, with a runway adorned with crystal tassels dropping from the ceiling. Also, Executive Chef Chachpol Suaisom flaunted his sweet and savoury specialties such as chicken vol au vent, marinated salmon with dill cream cheese pancake, grilled beef salad with lemon and fresh herb dressing, grilled tofu skewers with peanut sauce, shrimp thermidor with cajun brioche, and slow roasted beef and much more.
The Courtyard can host intimate gatherings to a huge guest list of more than 200 people with enough space for a dance floor with a grand foyer perfect for cocktails. The 3,000 square feet grand hall can be divided into four, depending on how you want your celebrations to be.
